Still Crowded

It’s past over Christmas but there are still many shoppers in the mall making me cancel my shopping schedule at the last minute. I feel tired with my severe backache and crowd will make me so sick. I saw a man in wheelchair pushing his way at the entrance and I’m relieved that there are handicapped signs helping him which entrance to go. Maybe he’ll have some shopping to do also and didn’t know that the mall is still crowded. As for me I will visit the mall stores tomorrow as I’ve shopped half of what I need in the bazaar near our place. I was warned by my Mom that I was not allowed to go shopping more than two hours as that would aggravate my back condition. I should rest also.

Anniversary Gift Ideas

My friend just got married last year and now she’s thinking of unique and very personal 1st year anniversary gift ideas that would make the occasion remembered so sweetly. I told her to choose and look online for very unique ideas and I’m glad she listened to my advice. Now she’s very delighted with her choice of gift and she knows it would make her husband think that she loves him dearly. Anniversary gifts can really touch the heart of many especially if it’s carefully chosen for the one they love.

FF/FTF: Homemade Cakes

It's my MIL's birthday last Dec. 3 and I'm so late in posting this.  Anyway we went there late afternoon but stayed until weekends which make for a great bonding for all.  We felt like we're in a real vacation every time we're there. I'm blessed to have loving in-laws from MIL to FIL up to my husband's siblings.  Never had any problem with them, feel like they're my own family also.

These were all homemade goodies.  I've ordered the Black Forest cake from a Cherry Dane Cakes and Cookies, a friend's creation from her own kitchen while the  rice cake or biko was cooked by MIL. Of course birthdays would never be birthdays if there's no pancit or spaghetti.  We arrived late because we have to wait for all my kids to arrive home and MIL blew the other mocca cake bought by SIL.

Hometown Beach Vacation

Many of my friends now are planning their vacation early next year and learning their vacation trips make me yearn for a vacation. I’ve been looking at various vacationing resorts including Outer Banks rental and though I would love to go to one of those dream vacation places I know it’s not time yet time and finance wise. We’re actually planning a domestic vacation only in my husband’s hometown by the beach. He has never been there and next year he wants us to join his Mom when she travels to Samar. Hope they’ll go after the school ends so we can come too. I heard the beach is so lovely on that part of the island and I would love the fresh sea breeze there.

Skipping Healthy Meal Plan and Workout

I felt so bad yesterday night with breathing difficulty which resulted from staying overnight for one week and heavy meals at night. I’m not really a heavy eater at dinner but my overloaded tasks made me yearn for something that can see me through late nights and that’s of course some foods that can replenish my strength and energy on working. Maybe I have gone overboard with the thought that I need more food to keep me awake but that’s what I felt last week.

The pounds that I’ve lost for three months came back with more when I stopped my meal plan for three weeks. I was afraid of the side effects of diet pills that I didn’t took any of those. If only I have maintained my workout maybe my body will not react much on my midnight snacks because when I maintain my exercise I feel very light and very fit. Now I promise myself that when I start to feel stronger I will go back in my meal plan and workout exercise and that should be in few days from now. Wishes!

Wedding Anniversary Gifts

Committing yourself to one person is a major decision you do in your life. You do it because of love and your dream to build a family together with the one you love. Wedding happens to fulfil the commitment made by both of you. In my life getting married is one of the best decisions I’ve made and it’s one of the most memorable moments I cherished until now. It’s not about how perfect or how grand the wedding was but how much you love the person you vowed your promise to. Just thinking about those moments made me feel blessed and thankful to God for giving me not the perfect but the right partner in life. In this life nobody’s perfect but there’s one that’s right for you who will love you and whom you will love forever.

Time flies so fast and we’re happy that we’ve gone this far after that blessed wedding day. We’re now heading through our 14th wedding anniversary and even if it’s still four months to go I’ve been thinking what anniversary gifts should I give to one special man in my life on that special day. I want him to feel special and have been searching online for unique gift to give him. I want something special regardless of the price be it ordinary or expensive.

I saw that has suggestive ideas for traditional wedding anniversary gifts by year and for ours it’s an Ivory-inspired gifts like ivory roses, teddy bear, photo frames, shirts and more. They have a range of funny and romantic presents for the special person you’ve married all these years. Love never grows old; actually it grows stronger and healthier over the years as long as you give your tender loving care. I’m looking forward to more years of blissful married life with Ed together with our 3 kids.

Looking for Custom Made Table

I’m searching again for laptop table that I can carry around the house and can be adjusted to at least 3 heights so I can use various sizes of chairs. DH told me that we’ll go the furniture store that caters mainly for various kinds of tables so I can choose the best. But I was actually looking online for laptop table that can relieve me from stress in my work, one that’s functional and adjustable just like the point of care carts that I saw in one of my surfing mode. It has all the benefits installed and make for a very comfortable working cart in the hospital. I actually love how they create their carts very functional, durable, high quality and professional looking.

Impressive Company Presentation

Good advertising materials make for a good presentation for the company’s products and services. I learned it in my previous telecommunications company selling prepaid cards, IDD, wholesale termination and corporate calls. We were selling calls to anywhere in the world at very affordable rates but we’re not known then because we’re just starting out eight years ago. We have a good business and marketing manager then and she insisted on having an attractive custom presentation folders to go with our company profile when they have a client call. It’s important that you have a nice presentation verbally and in documentation to create a good impression on the client. Good quality service will follow then to maintain clients.

More than My Year-End Pay

Everybody now seems to need plenty of cash for shopping clothes, food, appliances and so much more. It’s the time of the year to buy something not just for our family and friends but for our house as well. I see to it that I buy something new every year. This time I’ll buy small kitchen appliances that I will use for blending, for toasting, for baking and others. Hope I will not have to need cash advance to do my shopping because I want to buy my kitchen wish list on my savings. I’ve waited for the end of the year to buy them because I will be able to get the money I saved in our cooperative. I really saved some cash so I will not miss the yearly 13th month pay I used to have for almost two decades. When I got hold of my coop savings it’s much more than my regular company 13th month pay and bonus.

Online Shopping for Online Workers

With the rush for shopping on malls this month I would lovely have mine online because it’s not only comfortable and convenient but you can also use coupons to avail discounts which I love best. Yes I love finding the best deals in town because it made me feel I’m making the most of my hard-earned money. One nice thought has been playing with my mind and that’s spending your online earnings through online shopping, it does make a good rhyme isn’t it? Well I’m not much of a shopping gal but I do love gadgets and every birthday of my life I must have one little gadget for myself. Now I’m thinking which I will buy first.

Simple Life in the Province

My cousin who lived in our house for sometime in the past visited us and updated us with our relatives condition there. Every time she visits us I always remember how nice and simple to live in the province. Time is longer there also as there are no rushing over going to work or beating traffic jam and others. I’ve lived for seven years there when I was still a child and those years were very memorable to me. Just seeing some horse tack on the animal store I browsed online makes me long for the horse ride at the farm with sibling. Well there are plenty of memories there and I’m happy that those are good ones. We’re planning to have a vacation there next year.

Expense Priority

I’m finished with my wish list this coming birthday of mine and bought half of them already. I’m just thinking if I should continue my plan of buying Windows phone because it’s too expensive if I buy it without the plan contract. Anyway I think I’ll just wait for the anniversary of my laptop then I’ll decide. My priority next month is saving up for our duplex home and for the kids’ tuition fees next school year. Gen will be graduating from primary schooling and she’ll join her sister. I’ll have three kids in private school next year and that should be saved upon. I’ve seen some Prada handbags while I was surfing the net for some house decors and I can’t help liking it. I was lucky though that my PP doesn’t have enough funds to buy it so I was spared of shopping for the thing that I don’t really need this time of the year.

Easy Dinner Recipes and More

I was searching through nice recipes for my birthday and holiday season these past few days because I want something new to cook. I’ve visited some nice sites already but most requires foreign ingredients so I contented myself with planning my own original recipes. Then while I was studying one site for my work I came upon Tidings and saw easy dinner recipes and some budget friendly products they offer on the site. I just love having those easy recipes for quick cooking when I have visitors in the house. They make entertaining guests a delightful task to do.

Tidings are a great help and you can visit the site for more finds of high quality products they have plus the contributors to their site. They have wines, mixology, eats, recipes, magazines and blogs to help those who want to enjoy their recipes and tips on cooking and entertaining.

Handed Skills and Know-How

Just learned some home tips from my Mom and I’m thankful that Mom was a former Home Economic teacher that I can learn from her various know-how in managing household. I have a mother and teacher all-in-one and I have her all to myself as we’re always together. I regard it as one lucky thing for me because I can get first hand information about cooking, housekeeping, first aid medication and counselling all from my dear mother. Some of my friends were envy about it but they’re happy for me.

I was thinking that it’s also the same with DH because his father can teach him everything about car repair because he’s the chief mechanic in one of the bus companies in town. When DH got his first owner-type jeepney his father taught him about many important parts of the car like battery, alternator, brakes and brake pads, clutch, tires, lights, oil and all things that pertains to keeping up the car in perfect running condition. He actually gave all his precious collection of tools needed to repair cars, buses and all types of vehicles. He’s happy that one of his sons took after his skills on car mechanic and repair.

Kitchen Inventory

I’m always doing my kitchen inventory at the end of every year to check my utensils and needed things in the kitchen. I take advantage of holiday sales and discounts to buy new things for home and kitchen. I’m actually more inclined to purchase accessories, decors and utensils like coffee sets, pans for baking, utility knife in various sizes, pots and many others. I love cooking and baking and it feels good to collect things I used to enjoy my favorite hobbies. This year I think I’ll add new oven toaster for quick bread toasting, blender/osterizer for quick fruit shakes, sandwich maker for my kids’ cravings for yummy sandwiches and some other small kitchen appliances.

:FF/FTF: Mango Bravo

This is Contis' Mango Bravo which our dear celebrant Sir Bob had for his birthday.  It's an advance birthday celebration and a get together lunch date with former BT&T office friends.  Had fun reminiscing good old times in BT&T Telecoms with my good old friends.  Missed them so much especially our very dear boss Sir Bob who will be celebrating his 65th birthday tomorrow. We dined at Seoul Korea Barbeque, my boss' favorite. I'll post the foods there next week.

The Town’s Full Recovery

It’s going to be few days left before the celebration of the most festive holiday of the year and since it’s also my birth month I’m busy with planning my recipe menu for reunions, get together, my birthday and New Year’s Eve. Some of my friends are getting rushed over shopping activities but others are just busy admiring their decors on their christmas trees which some imitated styles and designs on the mall’s displays.

I was surprised to see our town hall’s giant Christmas tree which was built and designed just before our town fiesta last Tuesday and yesterday. Our town always celebrate it for two consecutive days and the town was in full excitement and shopping chaos with booth sale, garage sale, food booths and amusement rides. It feels like people are better now than last year’s situation after the onslaught of Ondoy. I’m happy that the whole town has recovered fully from the said situation.

:FF/FTF: Watermelon Shake

This Watermelon fruit shake in Burgoo is a real thirst quencher as it came from all-natural watermelon and without additives, just pure juicy taste of red watermelon blended and topped with watermelon slice and cherry.  Just love it!  I had it at Burgoo when we dined for lunch for Bes JennyL's birthday.  I also met twitter online friends Zanne and Kaje.  Just like the yummy fruit shake I love my lunch dates!

It Should be Treated

Having acne on your teenage years often gives you inferiority complex because you have shown imperfections on your face. This shouldn’t be so because it’s actually quite normal for most to experience having one or two acne. A friend of mine had a bad experience from having acne because it left a mark on his skin. It’s a common dilemma especially if we don’t follow instructions that pimples should be treated with acne treatment cream to prevent further breaking out of zits, acne and some skin problems. I was just thinking if there’s a cream that will treat acne and at the same time remove ugly scar.

Does it Work?

The son of our friend has developed too much acne on his face and now he didn’t know what to do or how to cure it. He doesn’t know much about the food that aggravates acne and pimples that’s why acne keep on popping up his face. He mumbled - does therapores work? I actually didn’t know anything about it so I searched about it to help him. I found out that it provides an all natural and advanced formula that can help eliminate acne finally and get the better results that you want. That is if the medicine can adapt to his skin type.

These  fanciful woodland Toadstools are not only yummy but a delightful thing to see!  Here's what the maker has to say about these sweet embellishment.

And like all our decorations, are handmade in our California kitchen and are given meticulous attention to detail.

:FF/FTF: Beach Picnic Foods

Kinilaw na Tamban

 Yellow Fin in Coco Milk

 Grilled Eggplant
Grilled Yellowfin
 Salted Eggs with Tomatoes
 Grilled Driedfish (Tawilis)

Chicken BBQ
These are the foods that we had two weeks ago first week of November in Tanza, Cavite beach.  It was a one-day plan beach picnic meant to spend the last holiday for family bonding.  We've chosen the nearest beach regardless of the gray sand and not so clear water because the weather was kinda cloudy and rainy. We just want to smell the fresh breeze of the sea and let the kids enjoy a day in the seaside.  The kids had fun as well as the adults.  Josh, Gen and Ruth enjoyed playing in the sand and creating castles, names, etc.

I was not able to arrange the foods before I took the shots because we were already starving and started immediately after we prayed for the food.  Noticed the hand picking up the grilled fish? And the salted eggs which was obviously missing eggyolks lol!

Some Kitchen Plans for the Coming Holidays

This coming holiday season I’m planning to buy some baking equipment and supplies so I’ll be ready when enrolment in baking course will pursue. I asked DH to inquire in their school of convenient time schedule that I will possibly enrolled in. Anyway since another year will come in I think I’ll have more of those kitchen utensils I love like spyderco endura, food machines like blender or some more equipment like blender, sandwich maker, waffle maker and the like. I was so excited now that I’ll be able to afford some of the items in my kitchen wish lists earlier than usual.

Great Deals on Black Friday

Everyone is anxious about the coming Black Friday sale next week. As of yesterday I’ve been hearing news that stores are having some great deals on their products already and I was surprised that prices are really low compared to original prices. I just saw one of my wish lists there which is on sale until today only with less $50 but it’s not on my priority list so I just let it pass. I hope I’ll be able to get some nice deals when I’ll be able to afford it. I learned that the biggest attraction is the electronics section where I saw netbooks, mobile phones, external hard drive and many others are being offered at low low prices.

Mistaken for a Pregnant Lady

There are many ways to burn belly fat but I have to know and learn the most effective because I’m always mistaken as pregnant. It always make me laugh when some of my friends whom I haven’t seen for sometime will ask me if I’m pregnant. I looked back at my old pictures I have when I was pregnant with my first kid and I agree with my friends I can be mistaken for that. I’ve been doing some workout exercises lately but I know it would take months before any result can be noticed. I should be more disciplined also with my time schedule if I want to lose some excess pounds on the belly.

:FF/FTF: Pizza Hut's Cheesy Pops

I’m craving for this now as I don't have time to go out to buy for myself.  This is Pizza Hut's Cheesy Pops.  It's a pizza with 24 pullable pops with mozzarella and cheddar.  This one is also my kids' favorite as well as the other pizza from the same store.  Several years back when stuffed crust and cheesy pops is not yet in their menu I was happy with their pan pizza and my all time favorite Super Supreme but now the kids will ask for this as this is so tempting to look at their menu.

Actually we're a family that loves pizza that much and we're happy even with the local community pizza here which is also yummy and affordable too.  They have family pizza for little less than P200 only which taste so good.

Flower Power

Anytime of the year I love flowers and that’s the reason why I joined the flower meme in my main blog. Whenever I see flowers I can’t help my cam from taking shots, it’s a natural instinct of me, in fact I have a collection of various flowers I’ve seen through my travels and activities. On special occasions it’s one of the things that I love receiving from my husband. He’s fond of giving me various colors of roses throughout our courtship, engagement period and up until now that we’re 13 years married to each other. It has a sentimental effect on me like what you can call as flower power because a single rose can brighten up my day.

Maybe I got the same penchant for flowers from my Mom who has a flower garden too. If I want to make her happy I would buy her small budding flower plants in the pot which she can grow and add to her collection. It’s a hobby she love doing even if she’s old already. She also loves receiving flowers from her friends. I was thinking that maybe when I reached her age I will also devote some of my time to arranging and caring for flower plants. I love doing it but for now I’m very busy with my three kids and their school activities.

Returned to Workout Routine

I was happy that I was able to return to my workout exercise which I missed for two weeks since DH and kids had their semestral break. It was a relief to have those breaks from school routine even for several days only because I can wake up early morning and not at dawn. But those vacation days prevented me from having my regular exercise because we’re always on the go and we have plenty of activities that I find it hard to squeeze in my workout schedule.

Oh well I still don’t have to take slimming pills right now as I easily programmed my body and mind to return to my cardio workout and aerobic exercises. I’m still hoping that through one-hour workout routine I can manage to be fit and slimmer in the coming months. Of course it should be done with diet plan on the side because regular exercise and proper diet plan are two basic ways to get fit, healthy and slim.

:FF/FTF: Healthy & Economical Chicharon Tofu

See this crunchy yummy tofu?  It's our favorite pika food or it can be a healthy quick cooking viand for the whole family.  This tofu comes from soya beans but anyone can eat this even those with rheumatism or arthritis.  I know more than a dozen recipe using tofu because I found out through my own experimental cooking that it can replace pork or any meat ingredient in vegetable recipes.  I used it in sauteed bitter gourd, in pechay with oyster sauce, in sauteed togue, in chopsuey, in sauteed baguio beans and many others.  It's also a good ingredient in omelette.  If you will cook a tofu omelette you'll find it so creamy you'll think it has milk on it.

Anyway I've featured this chicharon tofu on one of my blogs and now I'm doing it again on this food blog of mine.  First you have to cut it in small cubes (see pic#1) then dip it in the mixture of 2 Tbsp soy sauce and half cup of water.  Second, spread some garlic or cheese breading on it (see pic#2).  Then you're ready to fry it, make sure you have enough cooking oil  to accommodate deep frying to prevent tofu from absorbing the oil.  When it's well done and brownish in color sprinkle cold water on it, let it stay for another minute then you're done (pic#3).

My kids love it and I'm sure yours will love it too.  Try this economical and healthy recipe.

At Home and In-Charge

It’s nice to be at home especially on the last two weeks that DH was on his semestral break from school. He attended all things on the house that needs repair, check-up and maintenance especially on our car. He was able to see that the problem is with alternator and not on the battery. He still needs to consult our mechanic about it and he scheduled it on this coming Saturday as they’ve started their second semester again. Back to the car it really needs some additional here and there like new wiper motor, spare tire for long travel and overall check-up on the electrical system to ensure best performance for our heavy-loaded travel to camp meeting which will carry our four-day clothing, food and other essentials.

I don’t mind the expenses as long as it will be on perfect running condition as I hate stopping on the road to fix car trouble, well except for those little unexpected trouble which is not foreseen. I believe in checking up the car before starting on long travel because it saves us worries, trouble and money.  We’re asking Mom that she could come with us since the venue of our camp meeting is near to our house. It’s actually on the town after us near the highlands. We’ve checked if she’ll be comfortable with the car and saw that the running boards will be a great help to my Mom in getting in the car.

My brother who was the first owner of the car made it a point to include it in his check-up list when he bought the car. He wanted those running boards to help Mom and other old folks in climbing and getting into the car. It’s an easy way also for the kids to get in the vehicle fast and easy. Well for those who want the best running boards and other accessories like wheels, tires, dashboard kits, headlights, air intakes and more for their cars they can get it at, an online automotive accessories for your exterior and interior needs.

Food Friday/Food Trip Friday:: Grilled Pork Belly

Click the image to enlarge

This is one of my favorite dishes, Pork Liempo or Pork Belly whatever you want to call it and I want it grilled or fried.  Grilled is less sinful I guess lol!  This one is a little bit different from what I used to cook in the house.  I mean the cut is different as I used to grill rectangular shape liempo.  This one is from Aling  Tonyang's Seaside Resto.  Anyway the taste is still the same succulent taste of yummy grilled pork belly.  I love it on special occasions like New Year's Eve and birthdays spent on resorts.

How to marinate pork belly before grilling?  Just mix soy sauce, lemon or calamansi juice, salt, pepper, garlic and oyster sauce.  Some add catsup in the marinade sauce but I don't use it if I already have oyster sauce. Marinate for 3 hours to overnight then the pork will be ready for grilling.  The sauce used for marinating can be mixed with little catsup and cooking oil to use for spreading the pork while grilling.

Enjoy Quality Time with Them While They’re Young

Time flies so fast! I’ve been telling this more often these days. The little flower girl in our wedding 13 years ago will soon be a Mom. She’s having her first baby and scheduled to give birth on December. We were joking about it because I was also born on that month. I’m still in doubt if she’s going to give baby shower invitations or just make it a family affair.

Anyway having a baby is a delightful event where everyone in the family is excited about the coming source of joy in the house. My youngest kid is growing now and in few years time he will not be my little baby boy. So for now I’ll take advantage of his charming ways and enjoy quality time with him because when he reached his teens I know he’ll have more friends to spend his leisure time.

Purple Mangosteen

A friend of my Mom dropped by and gave this juicy Purple Mangosteen which my kids are not so familiar because it’s not a common fruit in our house. We always have fruits in the house. I always see to it that they eat one or two kinds a day for vitamin supplements. But mangosteen can’t be bought at nearby fruit stands only. The little boy love it as I patiently opened each fruit for him and then his questions slowly comes in as usual. He always has plenty of questions for lots of things. Since I’ve researched some facts for my little boy I might as well share some here.

The Purple Mangosteen is a tropical evergreen tree believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas of Indonesia. The tree grows from 7 to 25 m (20–80 ft) tall. The rind (exocarp) of the edible fruit is deep reddish purple when ripe. Botanically an aril, the fragrant edible flesh can be described as sweet and tangy, citrusy with peach flavor and texture.

Some mangosteen juice products contain whole fruit purée or polyphenols extracted from the inedible exocarp (rind) as a formulation strategy to add phytochemical value. The resulting juice has purple color and astringency derived from exocarp pigments, including xanthones under study for potential anti-disease effects. Other authors proposed that alpha-mangostin, a xanthone, could stimulate apoptosis in leukemia cells in vitro. Furthermore, a possible adverse effect may occur from chronic consumption of mangosteen juice containing xanthones. A 2008 medical case report described a patient with severe acidosis possibly attributable to a year of daily use (to lose weight, dose not described) of mangosteen juice infused with tannins.

Chills at Night

Last week I had a couple of chill attacks and when I think about it I noticed that it usually happens when I’m tired and stressed. I’m a strong person and I seldom get sick but I always chill at night whenever I feel so tired from blogging and physical activities. It happens usually before or after midnight when I’m sleeping already. When I start feeling so cold I always wish that I have heated blanket with me so I will not feel the cold. Some of my friends told me to ask my doctor about these frequent chills but I opt to leave it at that because for me it’s just my body’s outlet of physical stress. After I had those chills for about 15 minutes my body’s temperature will be back to normal and I don’t feel anything wrong with my health.

Protection from Aging Effects of Sun

I’m always outside for the kids’ school activities, bank errands, for grocering and some other Mom duties and sometimes I forgot to bring protection for myself when I roam around. My Mom would be so worried that I’ll have headache because of the heat but actually I’m worried at the effects of the sun on my face as I don’t put sun block when I go outside. I don’t put anything on my face because I’m used to having clean fresh look only. I know I need to have sun block and moisturizer for face to avoid skin damage on my daily outdoor activities. It will also help in avoiding sun aging effects on skin. Anyway I should take note of this because I will forget it due to tons of tasks that I’m doing. My skin would surely love being moisturized.

:Food Friday/Food Trip Friday: A Veneto Platter

Click the image to enlarge

This is one of the foods that I ate with my college friends on our second get-together last September.  It's my first actually to eat at A Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante at Glorietta, Makati City.  It was the suggested place from  my same name buddy Racelis which I fondly call Chako.  We've chosen  the resto because we want  Italian foods mainly pizza, pasta and chicken.  We ordered 2 family pizzas, 2 kinds of carbonara and two if this A Veneto Platter. It’s really what I want because it has a little bit of everything -  potato balls, french fries, chicken wings and crab sticks. Ate all this with a glass of iced tea.

Btw I love potato balls and chicken wings.

Taking Care of Her Skin

I noticed that my daughter’s skin is susceptible to dust and the skin on her face which used to be baby smooth is not that soft anymore. I guess it’s one of the things that any girl will experience when she enters adolescence period. I’m trying to help her with time proven tips and advices. I’ve bought her super mild cleansing foam for her face until she regains her smooth face complexion.

I’m not that worried about acne because I’ve never experienced them when I was in my teens and hoping that they would inherit that from me. If ever she will have some zits I know I can come up with a good acne medication for her. For now I’m teaching her how to take care of her face and the proper way of cleaning and maintaining it. That’s one way also of preventing acne and other skin problems from occurring. We should remember that the skin on our face should the smoothest skin on our body because the beauty lies on having clean, clear and glowing skin on our face.

On Watching TV

It’s been months since I saw television regularly. I just turned away from it for too long to test myself if I can get out of being so glued to television shows. I’m not a couch potato but I also spend some time watching cable movies and reality shows. I’m also fond of watching shows that pertains to music and nature. The test proved to be successful as I’ve passed it with flying colors. I just watched news and I avoided all telenovelas. Sometimes I watched special shows on my laptop.

Now after seeing nice home theater seating online few weeks ago I suddenly missed watching TV and started seeing my favorite reality shows and good movies on cable again but on limited time only. I regard my time as gold and so I spend most of it on reading, cooking, learning photography and writing. Sometimes I would watch shows with Mom to have some chit chat with her while I rest my back from working. On mornings I do some workout routines and take care of my kids’ needs. After all these things were done I work on my tasks until early afternoon before the kids came back from school. I find my time more useful and quality that way because I don’t follow daily shows that makes me sometimes addicted to watching them. It feels like they control my time and I don’t want it.

Effects of Acne

DD Ruth can’t sleep early last Friday and I told her that she should be resting before 10 in the evening as she needs to recover from the week’s busy activities in school. She’s not at all worried that she stayed late at night on Fridays because there’s no classes on Saturdays. Well I told her that it can cause her skin to be rough and might cause her face to have acne breakouts and she forced herself to fall asleep.

Even a girl as young as her don’t want acne because it’s not only unbecoming but feels itchy as well. It’s hard to find natural treatment for acne that will ensure treating the skin without marring it. Some of my friends in college experienced having acne in their high school years that gave those blemishes and scars in their faces. That’s the problem when you had acne problems it leaves some marks in your face.

:Food Friday/Food Trip Friday: Almondigas

Click the image to enlarge

I don't know where the name Almondigas came from but I heard them calling it by that name.  This is one of the many entries in the food fest in hubby's school where they won 2nd place in Tulya Con Carne in Milk.  I think the group who cooked this one lack some style in presenting their delicacy because the pepper shouldn't be cracked, it should look like a banana pepper, green and firm.  Anyway it's still yummy.

My friend used to cook this and a filling of cooked ground pork with spices are usually put inside the pepper and then deep fried. It's hot but not as hot as the chili pepper so it's still yummy to eat.  We usually serve ours with dippings of mayonnaise with catsup mixed to taste like a salad dressing.  Care to try it!

Determined and Disciplined

I had a talk with one of my friends in my daughter’s school and they noticed that I really gained weight since summer. I had a diet meal plan last summer and it helped me a lot but the stressful activities I had these past few months had added up to my weight somehow. I didn’t told them that I will not need those weight loss pills they’re recommending to me because I want them to be surprised after 3 months. I know my workout exercises will give me healthy and fit body. I’m confident that together with proper sleeping and healthy meal plans I can work my way out of my excess pounds. I’m determined and much disciplined now.

My 9th Day of Workout Exercise

I feel very good while working out and doing the cardio exercises online. I’ve finished 4 other exercises and finally reached my goal of one hour exercise in 10 days. I started with 10-minute exercise then doubled up to 20 and now I can do a one-hour straight fitness exercise, workout and aerobics . It was an achievement for me because I don’t have to buy the best fat burner my brother is recommending a few weeks ago.

I was feeling very light when sweat came out from my body. It also necessitates me to drink plenty of water. I’m a water drinker from the start but when you’re doing any workout or exercise you tend to drink less of water. It’s the physical activities that drive you to drink water to regain your strength and breath. I just love it. I started last week and this is my 9th day. I skipped last weekend because we went to Inter-town competition of my daughter.

Should be Healthy for the Kids

I relaxed yesterday from blogging and after doing one due task I concentrated on planning my meals and exercising. I started my exercise regimen last week and it’s becoming a habit to me now because it feels great on my body system. It feels like all parts of my body are moving and after few minutes of working out I feel good about myself. I was thinking that I’ll have my ME time and after reading my mails and checking my task schedule I rested my back on the couch and started reading some health books

I really need to be more conscious of my health now because sickness goes with the age too. I know I’m not getting any younger so prevention of occurrences should be prevented. DH and I should be healthy in body and in mind so we can properly guide and care for them as they grow up.

Facing a New Life

My cousin is on his way to new life after rehabilitation and I hope it will come true. I was really praying for the nth time that he’ll change and get away from other vices too like alcohol and cigar specials. For a month now he’s fine and in good condition that’s why my Auntie is happy. The other week one of his friends visited him to attend class reunion and he felt happy that when it happened he’s free from rehabilitation or he’ll never make it to the occasion. I just hope that he’ll turn away from the past bad habit that he had done and take advantage of his wonderful talent of drawing. Among our clan who were all gifted with artistic hands he’s the best of all and I know if he concentrate on living a good life he has a good future ahead of him.

:Food Friday/Food Trip Friday: Sbarro's Pizza and Pasta

DH and I ate at Sbarro while waiting for my other college friends on our first mini reunion after more than 20 years.  Among them I've last seen my closest friends on my wedding 13 years ago, yeah that long and I terribly missed them.  We ordered our favorite pizza and baked ziti (as always) and seated with 2 of my friends while reminiscing good old college days.  We then proceeded to the Seaside market and restaurant to meet others.  Well the foods at Aling Tonyang's were different from these ones. I have featured some of them here and will blog others on my next posts.

Getting Ready for the Contest

I just came home from school to configure my laptop with their printer for tomorrow’s competition. Gen will compete for basic encoding skills for Division level and they’re required to bring their own laptops, netbooks whatever they want to bring. Gen came home from school at lunch time to tell me that I need to setup my laptop with their printer which luckily is just the same as ours.

When we competed for the District level last week only one contestant brought her own mini laptop because we were not advised. Gen and other contestants used the PC desktops available in the principal’s office. Since tomorrow’s contest is for inter-town’s school competition I’ll be expecting competitive students to challenge for the Division’s best and for sure there’ll be lots of laptop and netbook models to see like Compaq Presario Mini, Toshiba Netbook PC, Acer Aspire notebooks and many others.

Her Future Nurse

A friend of my Auntie went with her on her visit yesterday. We talked about DH schooling and I learned that her daughter is also studying in the same university but in different branch. Her daughter is taking up Nursing and our town’s branch don’t have Nursing in its offered courses thus she enrolled in the nearest branch offering said course. Her daughter is only one year away from graduation and will soon be inquiring in healthcare job bank to know more job openings for healthcare staff. She‘s so happy to see her daughter practising in various hospitals assigned to her as her duty. She’s looking forward to her daughter’s graduation this coming March. After all her hard work her dream is just few months away.

School Break Vacation

I’m looking forward to hubby’s semestral break vacation as we’ll sort out everything in the first room of the upper floor. The room I was referring to became a stock room of old clothes, toys and accessories. I had plans of renovating it but due to lack of time and enough budget I put away my plans for awhile. Now I’m thinking what kind of furniture would I place in it if ever I resumed the renovation. Since it’s on the upper floors any motif I want can do like putting cabin beds and other wood furniture. It would be fresh to look at and a little conventional.

Hope we can finish what has been planned earlier so we can have some vacation also. Moms suggested visiting our hometown province and spend 3 days there so I think we’ll be able to relax and rest despite some obstructions.

Sea Gem Lantern

I've been looking for gift ideas for my SIL's birthday this month and because she's miles away I'm going to ship it to her place in G.B.  I'm choosing between home accessories, bags or purses because that's more likely her fave choices.  Well look at this cozy lantern I've found at  It's a lovely little 6 inch lantern bejeweled with sea-and-sand summer and fall tone glass beads. Perfect for hanging on my SIL porch or anywhere she likes.  Easy access through a tiny cage door means easy candle replacement. Comes with tea light.

This one costs USD10.00  and also available in black.Maybe it's nice having some of their other lantern items too.

First Week of Healthy Diet

Last month I was trying to find ways on how I could shed excess pounds without limiting my food intake because I know I couldn’t skip meals because I’m working so hard. The only way my friend advised me is to take safe diet pills that work if all things won’t work for me. After careful planning and determination I started skipping rice on my dinner meals starting last week. I replaced rice with two to three kinds of fruits so I will feel heavy and satisfied.

It’s hard to get back to what I’ve been doing previously but I have to try because my excess pounds has giving me difficulty in breathing and cramps on my legs. Doctor told me that my feet are too small to carry my weight so I better lose some pounds and try to maintain the ideal weight for my height and age. If I will not do that I’ll suffer the consequences. I’m glad that I’ve passed my first trial week and hoping I could move on with my second week. Good luck to me.

:Food Friday/Food Trip Friday: Scallop in Garlic and Cheese

This is one of my favorite foods from the various sea foods menu we had at  Aling Tonyang's Restaurant  in Seaside Macapagal beside Mall of Asia.  My college friends and I had a blast not in eating but in chatting.  The food was super yummy but we were so busy catching up with each other  that we ate only one-fourth of the food.  This is what I'm missing now - the Scallop cooked in garlic and cheese and some other spices I guess.  I almost missed the name 'coz I'm not so familiar with all kinds of sea foods. My friend Oda from Malabon and Elen whose living now in Canada did all the choosing and buying at the  seafood market there.  Hmm they're too expensive for me though you'll really love the foods, fresh and juicy products from the sea lol!
