You’re Pregnant, Here’s How to Prepare for Your Baby

Being pregnant with your first baby can be exciting but equally overwhelming. Every mother wants looks forward to bonding with their baby during the pregnancy and after birth but there is a lot that has to happen in between getting that positive confirmation from your doctor and going into the labour ward nine months later to birth your infant. Here are a few tips from our friends in Fairfax County, VA, Midatlantic Obgyn. They include the following;

1. Having a conversation with your partner - As important as this activity is, some persons tend to overlook it. These conversation should include what birthing plan you would like to have, who is responsible for what chores at home, who would be paying for what at home now there is a third person on the way who undoubtedly would increase the family’s expenses and what role you expect your partner to play during pregnancy and at the actual birthing.
2. Choosing an OBGYN or a midwife - You will want to do this as soon as possible because you need enough time first identify and then research the OBGYNs that have set up practice in your community. It’s important you get someone close to you because you do not want to have a long commute anytime you have an appointment or there is an emergency. Your research should include questions on their certifications, the number of births they have handled, their years of experience and their views on certain birthing practices. Once you have identified one, go ahead and schedule your first prenatal appointment; your OBGYN would typically want to see by the 8th week of your pregnancy.
3. Changing your lifestyle - If you work in a high intensity environment that puts a lot of stress on you, then you should evaluate that decision as this could be harmful to you and the baby. A study in 2006, revealed that there were more cases of miscarriages during the first few weeks of pregnancy among women that recorded high levels of the stress hormone compared with those who had normal levels.
4. Staying away from recreational drugs and alcohol - Drinking alcohol during pregnancy could cause your baby to develop Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).This happens when the mother’s blood passes through the placenta to her baby. Infants born with FAS usually experience problems with their livers, kidneys and even their hearts. They also experience poor growth, experience learning difficulties coupled with facial abnormalities. The use of recreational drugs also have the same effect but in some cases, can even lead to a miscarriage.
5. Getting acquainted with your body - Pregnancy comes with a lot of changes for your body, it is therefore, important that you study up on the symptoms you would be experiencing. You can talk to your doctor about the changes you experience as well as other moms as well but keep in mind that no two pregnancies are the same.
6. Eating healthy and exercising - Good nutrition and exercise go a long way towards ensuring that you birth a healthy baby. At this point, you will want to eat foods rich in protein, calcium, iron and vitamins. Your doctor would let you know what nutrients you should be taking and what the daily requirements for pregnant women are. Skip exercises like stomach crunches or ab exercises that can harm your baby. Rather, take up brisk walking, water sports like swimming, as well as cycling.

Always ensure you speak with your doctor before making any major changes to your lifestyle or diet. Feel free to let us know what you think of this post by leaving a comment below.

The things that you should never forget when flying with your baby

Going on holiday with your baby is great fun. Particularly if you are really looking forward to spending some time together as a family. The only problem that you can face is knowing exactly what to pack and take with you during the flight and during your break.

It can be hard to balance overpacking and ending up being charged, with making sure that you take everything you need. One way that you can make sure is to follow a packing checklist. This will ensure that you think about the things that are going to prove vital to have, as well as those things that you can definitely live without.

Not only this, but you can also make things a whole lot easier by making sure that you source a child friendly airline that is going to be able to offer you comfort as well as ease during your journey.

So, make sure that you pack diapers, a pacifier and a change of clothes, amongst other things, and in no time you will be ready to go and see what adventures you and your little one can find when you hop on a plane!

Making the Most of the Kids’ Vacation

It’s just few weeks until the end of the school break and my kids are quite sad about it that they asked me to plan some activities to make the most of their vacation. We’re planning on a swimming on some nearby resorts in our province but we want to do it on a night time because the sun is really harsh these days as if you would bet burned anytime.

Anyway there are other things that they do to make their time worthwhile like singing on our newly bought Bluetooth microphone and playing on their favorite musical instruments like keyboards and guitar. We still have to buy upgraded instruments like but for now we should be saving our money for the coming school opening.

Though they’re all scholars and my college kids are only paying small amount we still have to buy supplies and new uniform and new clothes. I’m thankful that we don’t have to pay for expensive tuition fees so I’ll just buy them what they want.

Coupons for Musical Accessories

I always love online shopping since the time that a couple of online stores gave me coupon codes as token for my review. It gives me not just comfort in shopping but great discounts as well. I remember getting my shoes, small household appliances, gadgets, glasses, clothes and decors right at the tips of my fingers. It gave me such sweet satisfaction every time I was called to get my delivery at the reception of my work place.

I choose to deliver my goodies in my work place because it suits my time and it’s faster too. Now I’m glad that there’s also guitar center coupon in store that we can use when we buy my kids’ favorite musical accessories. Coupons are such great help to afford expensive musical instrument which we dream of buying and we’re looking forward to getting those coupons in the coming days.

Before Our Daughter’s Memorable Day

Before my daughter’s memorable birthday we had a lot of things to plan, do and prepare. At times I felt that we’re running out of time and we can never finish with our original plans. We were so worried with the food, whole venue and the backdrop design that I really prayed for God’s help. Then suddenly when it’s only few days left before the big day things fall into places, neighbors lend their equipment, friends shared some funds and relatives were there to offer their lending hand.

I was overwhelmed when we completed our sounds equipment with the help of my nieces and work friends of hubby which gave us the amplifier, speaker and some microphones which resembles that of We were also late in our food reservation as we only informed our catering service just three days before the event. God is so good that because the catering couple is hubby’s friends they gladly accepted it with special discounted rates. With the help of family, friends and God’s guidance I can say that we were able to celebrate our dear daughter’s debut with a joyful and fulfilled heart. I was glad that we also made our Gen happy too.

Loving the Genes of Musicality

It’s been a long happy vacation for the family during the recent holiday because we've spent almost a week together in the coldest part of the country. Well it's not just a vacation but a fellowship also for the whole church so we travelled all the way from Manila to the mountainous and cold place of Baguio to enjoy the scenery, food, weather and all the nice things of the place.

Since it's a long break from school Gen found her way into tinkering guitar and played some of her favorite pieces. She's only into drum playing now so she has grown some interest in the drum set accessories we chanced upon like the snare wire we found at music online store. She really loves music and everything around it - musical instruments, accessories, equipment and many other music items. Lucky that she also got the genes that learns music fast.
